On February 17 2017 Bob Ogden passed away. MBSLSC Chairman Steve Vaughan remembers Bob fondly:
It is with a very heavy heart that I have to pass on that one of the living legends, Club Patron and great Mairangi Bay man, Life Member Bob Ogden passed away peacefully this morning after a brief illness.
A real club stalwart, who played a massive role in where the club finds itself today, Bob was always at the club, even in recent years as old age and illness caught up with him you would find him down there watching his grandchildren in Junior Surf, watching all club events and attending club functions, and keeping a very close eye on the club and its members development with huge interest.
I was very lucky to catch up with Bob a few weeks back – his wit, laughter and great sense of humour was still all very much there – the body however it seems had other ideas.
At a fantastic 92 we sadly have to say goodbye and may he rest in peace.
All our love and support to fellow Dreamers Stuart Ogden and Heather Ogden-Handa and the family …. may Bob rest in peace!
Bob’s funeral will be held Thursday 23 February, 12.30pm at the Mairangi Bay Presbyterian Church.
